  • Oil Pump Housing: While improved over the 2.7L, early 3.0L units still face risks regarding the strength of the oil pump housing, which acts as a mounting point for the timing belt tensioner.
  • Secondary Turbo Drain: Early versions sometimes suffered from oil smoke due to poor drainage from the secondary turbo, which was later addressed with a modified drain pipe.
Pro Tip: To maximize longevity, Land Rover specialists strongly recommend reducing oil change intervals to every 10,000 km (or 6 months) and using only low-SAPS ACEA C1/C2 spec oil to protect the DPF.
